Sorry so the 8pm bulliten launches in Jan/ Feb? Is this when the six goes single headed? And if so, why were they making such a big deal about it in July?

For the 8pm bulliten, would Natasha have needed to sign a new contract? And if so, is that the reason the bulliten was delayed for so long? And if so, does this mean Natasha knew she was leaving before it was announced?

Thanks, imnogoth

I think that the trial was in July or August, and no I don't think Natasha knew she was going at the time.

Any ideas on who could present this? If Kate doesn't move to the one, could they stick her on evenings (replacing Joanna Gosling) to present with Ben Brown (bad combo but still) and have her do the 8pm with Fiona Bruce presenting on Fridays?

I can hardly see them picking George or Huw to do it, though Ben Brown's a possiblilty

Well it has been confirmed that Kate Silverton will be presenting the new 8pm bulletin from the launch on Monday.

MediaGuardian Report

It also says she will cover for Sophie Raworth on the One when she goes on Mat/Leave. Presumably not at the same time, as that would make for quite a long day (although I don't know what time the presenter would have to start for the One).

Kate will also do more Panorama reporting.

So presumably Kate will be leaving 24 leaving Carrie Gracie with that role?

Oh lets hope Carrie gets the slot with Simon. It would be a crime if she didn't. They are the finest pairing on News 24, end of!

Agreed. I only bother with News 24 during the morning now. Simon and Carrie are a brilliant pairing and make the channel very watchable. The way they bounce off one another is excellent. Compared to them, the other newsreader pairings seem very dull.

So presumably she'll be doing something on News 24 later in the day because it's pretty stupid to keep the 1pm presenter around for 7 hours to present a 90-second summary.

I see absolutely no reason why Huw Edwards couldn't do it.

Would this mean that Kate would be covering for Joanna Gosling when she is on mat leave as well? It seems a heck of a waste if Kate only does a quick summary and lends her hand to Panaroma's output!

I'm really not sure how this will work. Sophie will presumably be going on maternity leave very soon, so Kate will have to take over hardly any time after launching the bulletins. If she does the One as well as continuing with the 8pm bulletin not only will it be a very long day, but what will she do in between the two? When Sophie returns surely Kate won't only present the 8pm Bulletin with cost cutting going on, so does this mean Louise Minchin or Joanna Gosling will have to move to give her a slot? Could one of them do the morning?
