I quite liked Stephen Cole's presentation style too! Tons of hairspray, admittedly, but his work to camera was good (in news only - terrible on Click!).
I only ever saw him covering the six once during a strike. But click online wise, he had to be the most patronising old fart ever.
Yes, he made it seem as though he was forced to smile and be friendly and 'hip' lest he be tied down to a wooden table and electrodes inserted into his arse.
Makes for some good reading - here's one from September 11:
Quote:
As England prepare to face Germany in a vital World Cup qualifier, controversy continues to rage over the issue that's got the whole world talking: what's the best hairstyle for Becks?
In May, Brian Clough - (who?) - well, some old man, said he'd send Becks to his Army barber for a haircut, after seeing Becks' Mohawk look.
Now he's gone for a skinhead shave. Experts are divided about which do is dishier. But we have reporters, outside Beckingham Palace, awaiting a statement about Posh's preference.
Now, one brief piece of foreign news. Two planes have crashed into some really, really tall buildings in New York. The buildings fell down. But Becks was thousands of miles away and his hair was undisturbed. So, don't worry!
There's bad news for lovers of ballroom dancing - like me! - today with the news that all eight members of the much-loved Titanic dance-band, led by Wallace Hartley, have been drowned in the North Atlantic.
Oh, and another 1,509 passengers perished when the Titanic hit a big frosty iceberg.
Haha. It does point out the BBC's obsession with celebrity.
Isn't it obvious to the BBC that the only thing keeping the
Six
mildly watchable is George Alagiah? When Natasha's in the studio on her own, or with someone like Ben Brown, it feels like a televised copy of
Heat
Magazine. OK, I'm exaggerating a bit, but she really is an awful newsreader.
George Alagaih is OK, and they seemed to have stopped him stressing the syllables of B B C all the time. He's a good newsreader on the six.
For all her detractors, and her celebrity "this and 'that" roles, I quite like Natasha Kaplinksy. She is fine for Breakfast the odd times she does it now, and OK on the six. She seems to work well with either GA or DM on the six. Perhaps there are some men (or women) who are concentrating on her looks and that takes their mind off the news topic in hand.

They should give her a normal hairstyle and dress her a little more appropriately, and then I think she would be fine.
And yes, poor George does over-emphasize B B C.
I thought she had only appeared twice on Breakfast since October 2005 once to do a bit about a school and a bit about CIN, agree about the hairstyle, she looks better on OBs as her hair looks more natural(I read somewhere that it is curly and has to be straightened) it also looked better on SCD. She presents the News well and seems to work well with a variety of presenters(I prefer her with Jon Sopel or Jane Hill) although like most of them she works better alone on the 10 and alone in the studio on the 6) ,I feel that on the News she is underused, although I do realise that most of the work for bulletines is done by the presenters before they go on camera.George did say at a book festival about items being colour coded and having to check before presenting them (maybe a certain Mr. Fincham should have had Natasha checking for him).

i agree - think she's ok - i do tend to 'fight her corner' as sometimes it seems as tho she's up against the world. New harido.....definitely!!
