Perhaps the reason for not using N6 is to do with the upcoming studio changes - presumably when News 24 move there, they will be unable to use it for the update anyway. Though TC7 could still be an option?

Goodness me, isn't that woman ugly.

And sorry, but you'll never convince me away from my personal opinion that something nasty must have been injected into those lips to make them look that bad.

CSO makes sense in terms of all the regions being able to do the same thing. You would expect them all to have the capability and it allows the bulletin to be presented on the minimum of staffing possibly (i.e. similar staffing to breakfast bulletins)

I would imagine it also allows for them to be presented from any studio regardless of any changes in the future with news studios in London.

How comes there weren't 'green halo' problems on any of the regions? (And if there were in your region speak up!)

Riz Lateef in London and Lara in Look North. Lara is the relief presenter for Look North (NE&C), but has been on all last week and then on the 8pm tonight, so I dont know if she is still just covering for Carol who will be presenting when she returns.

Other than the green halo thing, I actually liked it. Gave more depth than the Kaplinsky ones did, but still kept it short. Remember it isn't any worse than 60 seconds on BBC Three - and none of you should like it otherwise they've failed! It would be like a 70 year old complaining newsround doesnt analyse stories enough!

It's aimed at younger people, as you all keep saying, so frankly you shouldn't be the judge of it unless either...

Arrow you happen to be the sort of person who likes short, informal news stories
Arrow you're the right age/ market

I don't mean to offend anyone, but let the target audience be the judge of it! (Although you can judge on things like whether budgets should allow on new shows etc.)

Glad I missed this. I feel it would only have made me angry if I had watched it.

Is the halo effect not a side effect of CSO - if Kate's hair happens to be slightly the wrong colour with the lighting?

I think the bulletin was very effective for what it was aiming to do. It was clearly not aimed at your average BBC News viewer. It provided a brief but accurate round off the key stories of the day.

It will never replace other bulletins, and is clearly not designed to.

To me that was just something funny about Rob Smith (South East) suddenly appearing up on the other side - and closer to the screen. Could there not have been a transition similar to the way headlines are done?

Not on digital, as the opt happens when network if fully off the studio vision mixer. A fade through black might have been possible

The CSO in London was pretty dire as well. The presenters jacket was fizzing like a bad Blakes7 effect.
