I'm guessing they had some questionable market research saying that if they'd used the normal studio it would have put people off watching it and made it less accessible.
And predictably it was going to be using BBC One branding rather than News (not even an end credit.)
The national headlines seemed reasonable, if anything our local bulletin was slightly more 'dumbed down', as the weather copy went along the lines of it - "its going to be very cold tonight [slight pause] so you'll need to scrape the ice off your windscreens in the morning."
They could really do with an extra 30 seconds or so and losing a trail. But that won't happen.
