That's the way it's designed - otherwise you'd have a jump cut with two similiar sized presenters but suddenly swapping sides.
The jump cut wouldn't look so bad though if the background looked more like a studio than just an image on a black screen, then it would look like they were on oppositie sides of a studio that featured two angled screens. The design is somewhat flawed.

I don't even see why there needs to be a design at all. Can they not just stand in front of a screen in the main news studio for 90 seconds? Quite a strange choice to use Jake Humphrey but at the same time logical as he is the face of Sportsround and the producers probably won't get too attached to him and be happy to see him quit when Ellie is back. I don't think they'll use him for all of Ellies shifts. They'll probably use Lizo (if hes still there) and that other woman whos name I've forgot. (Shoulder length blonde hair)
