Presumably there was no breaking news to handle, so Sissons returned to his normal newsreading glory instead of stuttering over every other word that there was.

No, he did manage to stutter over several words, especially when trying to tell us the next news on BBC1 is at 10.10pm.

How far back does the studio go behind the cameras? I always wonder why we never get a behind the camera look at the studio like we do on BBC World and like we used to do in the Ivory and Red studio time.

I think it finishes only slightly behind the cameras. There was a picture a while back of behind the scenes, near the right pod.

I think the current newsroom is a lot deeper (for want of a better word) than the 1999 one hence there's not enough room behind the cameras any more for a proper wide shot.

We've just had about five minutes of trailers on N24. BBC One were to simulcast N24 for the 3.55pm bulletin but looks like the rugby over ran. The weather ended about 3.54 and then we saw promos until N24 were straight to Peter Sissons at 4 (no countdown) saying something about "we'll bring you the news when we're joined by BBC One in a few minutes".

Nice to see Peter on BBC One though.

it went..
>weather
>lots and lots of trailers
>straight to peter (looking very confused)
>a message to N24 viewers saying that the news will start when bbc join
>an animal (timefilling)story
>peter is interupted by the countdown starting( at 4.02) at 14 seconds crashing straight into the titles at 9 seconds.
I take it anita mcveigh will do tonights 10.10 as chris sometimes goes at 10.

It looked a total mess on N24.
did anyone capture it?

the BBC cant afford wd40 these days, that truck camera or whatever they call it these days desperately needs it!

No there is not enough room as the Newsroom behind the glass is far larger than in the 1999 era. Behind the cameras there is about 4 foot of space and then a Perspex screen with 'BBC News 24' in big red letters and then more newsroom beyond that, no room for a nice long wide, hence the aerial cam shot.

I think he meant 'the tractor cam's railing needs some WD40 on it'. There's no reason why that couldn't happen while a programme like Hardtalk is on. Should the headlines be needed, it could come from the CSO pod, or perhaps N6.

Could be interesting in the next few mins or so - News 24 are planning to show the England press conference which should start shortly... but is likely to coincide with the One o'clock News. So i wonder what will happen with N24 and the 1 now being in the same studio..?
