Did I see that right? Jonah Fisher doing a story about whaling?

Well it would make sense wouldn't it - isn't he the one who's on that Greenpeace ship looking for them or whatever?

A week or two ago on BBC World the presenter said people had been writing in to ask if the story/reporter was fake because of the name of the reporter and what he was reporting.

To pick up on the point about the tickers...I'm sure it could be sped up a bit.

I'm sure it could even be speeded up, but then it would probably be about as legible as the credits on US sitcoms!

I never realised it was 'speeded' instead of 'sped'! I've always said 'sped', unless it's a Yorkshire thing. Confused

Speaking of speeding things up, does anyone remember the reason why N24 increased the speed of the rotating globe in 2006 to a ridiculously fast pace?

I thought that was hilarious for some reason, and recently found a video of that on DVD!

N24 have been carrying a "BBC News exclusive" strap on some of their content this afternoon regarding the emergency landing at Heathrow.

Presumably this refers to their helicopter footage of the aircraft?

Yep it seems (as i posted in the Sky thread) that the SkyCopter is having to hold a distant position because the BBC Chopper is taking the prime airspace.

The exclusive strap will be for other networks patching into the pictures from around the world- makes sense for cross-promotion.

I would imagine so, coverage seems to have been good so far, lots of eyewitness testimony, Nick Robinson there on the PM's plane too, plus the helicopter footage.

Coverage on the One was good too, with Tom Symonds and Sophie Raworth covering it and ad libbing with the helicopter footage as it came in.

Yeah, I think so seeing Sky don't seem to have this yet.
