I think I may be talking about the same headline bed question that was posted about on the previous page but at 10.10 Nick Owen was doing a latest news thing and the music in the background sounded like a piece from the 1999 package. Am I right or is it just a piece of music News 24 don't use usually?

I think I watched the same latest news summary - and the headline bed used was the 'Business' bed (which I think was originally used on the Business Today programme which used to go out at 2230 on weekdays, and which is now often used during business summaries on N24).

Just an error in choosing the right headline bed to play out, I expect.

Put The Telly On
Not sure this is the right thread but I love the mentality of this country. We're all told about this storm and told to STAY AWAY FROM THE COASTLINE then earlier today News24 and Sky were showing viewer images of people chasing the waves and one of a woman smiling happily next to a high tide about to get swept into sea.

A few mixed messages then? "Stay away from the beaches, coastal areas.. oh but yeah, we need some wacky images of the storm.. go on you morons.. go down to the coast and get some piccies on your mobiles for us to show!"

Madness I tell ya, madness! Wink

But was that BBC News 24 or BBC Worlds fault? It was on WBR after all.

Worlds I think. The overnight simulcast with N24 ends at 5 and then World begins its production.

Yep - though the editorial teams work in both areas - i.e. the overnight service is editorially, at least partially, from BBC World - though the studio output comes from News 24 until 0500 (with News 24's studio only providing "break fill" headlines after this until Breakfast?)

AIUI the teams responsible for editing some of the front half-hours on the joint overnight service also produce some of the World half hours post-0500?

I'm sure it has been mentioned here before that the presenter is responsible for inputting their name for use on screen?

N24 has been enthusiastically promoting BBC News Mobile services today - new slides have been created with information on how to access BBC News Mobile, and at 1523, Ben Brown (co-presenting with Emily Maitlis) introduced a 30-40s package presented by Kate Silverton, giving a quick guide on how to access BBC News on the move.

Considering how boring it has been getting recently to hear the usual "you can watch all that and more on our interactive service - press red etc" mini-spiel every hour, it's nice to have a change.

This was presumably designed to coincide with the recent relaunch of the BBC Mobile site - although I notice that the BBC Mobile section of the main BBC 'internet' site (at www.bbc.co.uk/mobile) hasn't had an update for quite some time.

I think that stopped a long time ago with the UK headlines read by the world presenter instead.

A very long time ago - I'm sure I remember the UK headlines and weather being covered by the World presenter from the last-generation 'bumper-cars' desk, at least during the hybrid << red/ivory set with orange fan/'ribbons' titles >> look.

That would make sense.

As you can tell - I'm not usually an 0500-0600 viewer!

Good grief an ebullient effusive Ms Silverton 'advertising' the BBC News mobile site shown in the run up to 7.30 pm tonight.
