Much neater junction to the BBC1 news there - a countdown digitally zoomed in to remove the countdown numbers, with the ticker and DOG still up, into the 17:35 news with Mishal. Still caught a reflection of Peter's head in the left hand pod at the start of the bulletin, but apart from that, not too bad. I can understand why they've gone down the countdown route, but it still appears strange.

Why not just let Sissons do the main bulletin. He's a familiar (and popular) newsreader with most of the BBC1 viewers and it would make simulcasts much neater, just like the Maxine Mawhinney simulcasts on a Saturday lunchtime...

Interesting to see the time delay on the 'Live' footage of the plane landing at Miami this evening. It was obviously pre-recorded, because they wouldn't show a live plane crash (this has been mentioned on Newswatch before). I have no problem with that, but the presenters were pretending they didn't know what was going to happen. "Is it going to be a happy landing?" they were saying. Of course it was - you already knew that because it was pre-recorded and cleared for transmission by the Head of News Rolling Eyes The give away was a sudden cut to the actual live real time feed upon landing. One moment there were no emergency vehicles or personnel surrounding the plane, the next moment there were dozens.

Noticed that I pipped Sky News and they seemed to be showing it live ... or with less of a delay.

Adam Parsons also presents now and again too, nothing wrong with deploying the staff you have where needed!

I've noticed recently the increasing use of the "1 clap" version of the TOTH vamp. I don't think it has as much impact as the "2 clap" version.

Problems all round at 1am this morning. The headlines failed to make an appearance and had to be read to camera, the BBC News 24 box and clock didn't show up and when they did finally appear, the ticker simultaneously broke down for ten minutes. It was as though they had to swap one for the other. Two reports 'couldn't be brought to us' and another two ended prematurely. All in the space of 15 minutes. What are they playing at?? Confused

Its one 1am, who's watching? (judging by figures for news24 at 10/11pm it wouldn't be much)

Probably more people than at any other time of the day - it goes out on BBC World from 1.00am.
