At the top of 11am hour, double shot of Tim & Jane, Tim did the 'good morning our main story...' and got his name aston on screen, but when Jane picked up the headline they cut to a screen graphic then straight to the report so I still don't know who Jane Hill is!!!

I've never really understood that. Why don't they just do one strap with both names on, aligned under the correct presenter?

Agree.

And it's like Jane is ignored lol.

It seems to be touch and go these days if the presenter name strap makes an appearance or not. If it does come up sometimes if you blink you really will miss it.

They can't put both presenter names on the same strap because the astons are right justified within the 4:3 'safe zone'.

Well put "Name 1..............................Name 2" right justified (but with spaces not fullstops)!

Or to make it look less sloppy they could just use that little word 'and'.

That's a good idea!

Of course if it was Tim they'd have to put "Jane Hill and me Tim Wilcox"

Or get them to read the headlines and then one of them say, " Hello This is BBC News 24 with Nicholas Owen and Louise Michin also coming up....."
It's not like its unheard of in the BBC.

To me that would be the best idea, just after the titles say 'Good afternoon, I'm Tim Willcox with Jane Hill. Our main story...'

Alternatively surely we could just have the idea of putting both presenter names on the strap - Tim Willcox and Jane Hill.

At the moment it really is a haphazard approach as to who gets a mention and who doesn't if any at all. I seem to remember reading it's up to the presenter to input their name into the Aston Generator as I recall it once displaying 'Presenter' as they hadn't entered anything.

I used to like the introduction in 1999 (particularly considering you didn't see the studio/presenters until the titles had ran - gave it more of an "umpf" I thought), where they'd say after the titles "This is BBC NEWS 24, I'm Nicholas Owen..." "...and I'm Jane Hill." (Jane would then go into the first story.
