Dunno if anyone cares, but the reason the ticker can pop up in lower (sentence) case is pretty simple - there's an option in the program to select the case you want (lower, sentence, caps, or smart case - the latter recognising that McDONALD shouldnt be MCDONALD etc) and of course it's much easier on the eye to check for typos in sentence case than it is in caps.

I think it should be lower case all the time. Upper case is shouting, and more difficult to read.

I don't think mid-90s netiquette applies to every single design decision in TV pres, or anything else for that matter.

But readability applies to everything. And lower case, due to the varying heights and positions of letters allows the brain to recognise the words quicker than in upper case which is all the same height.

E24 is a preferred series of resistors, if my aging electronic knowledge is anything to go by.

Perhaps Gethin will present the programme in front of a giant PCB.

No, I meant that there were rumours that BBC News 24 would be rebranded just as BBC News. The titles E24 suggests this isn't the case.

I've always thought that was largely misinterpreted - though with the BBC you can never be 100% sure.

Well with BBC World overnight, and 3 BBC National bulletins, it isn't exactly 24 now is it...
