Or that the BBC think it's a good idea to subject the night-time audience to world news only. Would it kill them to have say at least 1 UK-biased news programme at maybe 3am? I'm thinking of people who work evening/late night and sleep during the day.

Or perhaps a proper UK bulletin at 3:30am, which is a bit more practical.

The closest thing we came to this in the past was on Sunday overnights. The back half hour of 1.00 was used to go through the UK related stories as it only went out on N24 .Since Click Online has had a regular slot they have now taken up this space.

It would be a shame to loose Asia Today - N24's only showing of the programme. They could scrap the WBR at 3.45 as it has only just been shown on the previous hour. Then Asia Today could be shifted to 3.45 and so at half past there could be a full round up for UK news and sport.

There could also be a quick summary of the headlines at 1.15 during BST when World opt out but they seem content showing World's business pre recorded business headlines.

Why does BBC World use the same package between 6-9CET when only 1 hour is TWT? (I was watching World yeasterday).

Thanks for everyone's help! I didn't realise how many insomniacs we have at TV Forum!

It's because those bulletins are branded "European Breakfast". Only the first hour is branded "The World Today" because that's the bulletin BBC News 24 broadcasts. They couldn't call it BBC World News - although I can't see the problem with that - so they call it TWT.

I also remember a few years ago (1999/2001) when Clarence Mitchell and Rageh Omaar were presenting the overnight news service, they used to have a full half hour of UK news at 05.30 - this was in the days before The World Today came back. They used to do the world news bulletin as usual, then play the N24 short ident, followed by UK headlines, and then a full bulletin.

If they wanted to bring it back, then they could, as you said, lose WBR, then shift Asia Today to 03.45, replacing that with a UK summary.

Congratulations Wink

It might be an idea to talk about it further in The Lounge rather than taking this off topic.
