Why can't the Ten rehearse in TC7? It seems a bit stupid turfing out BBC News every night.

Moz is right, TC7 isn't used after Newsround, and Newsnight doesn't go on air until around 10:30, and surely that dont rehearse for an hour?

I was just about to make that point. It all seems a bit over-the-top.

TC7 and N6 differ in size and will be set different even if the 1/10 and 6 have identical studios. TC7 by then will be set for Newsnight. It makes far more sense and simpler to rehearse in the studio they are going to be live in.

But the Ten will be coming from N6 in future, *not* TC7. There's no point rehearsing your programme in a different studio to the one you're using for transmission.

The point of this excercise is to save money. Having the Ten in TC7 involves more cost (it needs a gallery crew), whereas having them in N6 doesnt, as it's already on air for the News Channel.

It gets them more familiar with the setting out of things. Very similar to the N9 situation for News Channel from Monday at 9:30.

But the studio is exactly the same layout as N6. There's no problem if anything goes wrong, and them not knowing about it, because the News Channel would be on air right up until minutes before 10.

Oh come on, TC7 and N6 - for the purposes of rehearsals - are virtually identical now. No-one's suggesting having the Ten in TC7, just rehearse in there.

The technicalities between the two are different.

Also TC7 is bigger, with totally different lighting setups and a different gallery.

Plus TC7 is used for Newsnight rehearsals...

For a complex package they are not practically identical. Plus the new N6 design looks like it will differ more to TC7 than at present.

*Sigh* Rolling Eyes

Yes the studios may --physically-- resemble each other, but they are different sizes, have different technology and different cameras etc. You simply cannot rehearse a news programme in one studio and broadcast from another. Graphics, camera moves and sound etc might work in one, but there's no guarantee it'll work in the other when the clock strikes ten...

Don't forget this thread is for 'Presenter and Rota Discussion' and all that.
