BBC News 24: 'Day-to-day' Presenter & Rota discussion

Just switched at 2300, to see Sophie Long presenting solo, where's Chris Lowe tonight?

Maybe im wrong, but how are people suppose to know where he is? Do members on here actually have access to these people and the rostas, or on the phones when staff call in sick?

It's just unusual for there to only be one presenter at 2300 on a Saturday or has the presentation roster changed as part of the cutbacks?

I think the presenters take a short break during the shift as IIRC one of the presenters is often missing on a sunday at a similar sort of time.

N24 significantly behind Sky News on the Plane crash breaking news coverage.

Thats true, sky have had the better pictures with their helicopter and were leading with some inaccurate guesses for a while. Two houses were thought to be destroyed but that became one and now Sky have firmed up on that.

Just a word to say that I'll miss considerably, Head 2 Head that is now finishing it's seven year run tonight on N24. I've really enjoyed it's debating style.

Shame it's ending.

Yea, me too - I only started watching it regularly about 2 years ago, but have really enjoyed it when I have been able to catch it.

Also noticed that 'Dateline London' is moving to Saturdays as of next weekend.

It's not uncommon for one presenter to sometimes disappear at 23:00 on a Saturday evening these days.

Yes, News24 have got to pay for vapid pointless crap like 'Your News' and 'Oddbox' somehow. Sadly 'Head 2 Head' has to make way. They've already ruined 'Straight Talk', shortened 'Dateline London' and now got rid of 'Head 2 Head'. Very sad.

Good point. There's also that E24 programme and I seem to recall something called Teen24 with Myleene Klass. Don't know if that's still going. Also, Film24.

It's such a shame that they are giving up the really interesting, important programmes to make way for utter fluff. Couldn't they keep a balance?
