BBC News 24: 'Day-to-day' Presenter & Rota discussion

I joined because I had been reading the threads for a few months on and off - but suddenly there was one comment that provoked me to want to contribute a response to.

However, there is obviously a 'need' or 'justification' for this thread - and as has been mentioned previously - surely if the site has grown and attracts more members and further discussion around all aspects of TV news then this is a good thing.

Essentially - we all enjoy watching the news - and all take notice of stuff beyond what is actually being reported. I like this site - I log in every - mostly - every day. I really like it on here. I have been called names, I have been reported for calling other people a geek. But I still want to read other people's opinions on all things TV NEWS.

The fact that this site is as popular as it is - is surely because normal Joe Bloggs like me can join in. Is that a bad thing??

If you want me to feel privilaged - then I do. I thank you and all the moderators for allowing me this little bit of escapism and opportunity to join in an OnLine forum on subjects which genuinely interest me. (TVHome as well as The Newsroom).

Long may this site continue - and allow us all to exchange banter and opinions with each other!!

Does Tim Willcox mainly present solo? I don't recall seeing him paired up all that often.

He has regular slots at weekends, which he does alone, and on Fridays instead of Chris Eaklin, but otherwise is a relief presenter and fills in for any of them (e.g. Jon Sopel, Matthew Amwroliwala etc.)

Does Sally Nugent still present? Used to see her loads, but seems to have dissapeared, though I can't watch mornings so maybe she presents then.

Now Christmas is over has Carrie taken over Kate's morning shift?

I think it's because he seems to like the attention on him only. He never seems to work very well with a co-presenter.

As seen as presenters are no longer presentation ...



She does the odd relief shift every now and then but nothing regular. I seem to recall seeing her during the daytime over Christmas.

Why is Simon McCoy the only presenter to be on News 24 consistently at the moment? Today we've not had Matthew or Jane, Louise or Jon (though because he's in America) and they've not replaced Kate Silverton.

Tim Wilcox and Nick Owen seem to be on every weekday at the mo instead of at weekends or odd shifts here and there. And Emily was on the One today - clearly Jane and Louise are both busy...

Oh and Rachel Schofield has just popped up on News 24 from nowhere - didn't know she can teleport!

They do seem very inconsistent with presenters at the moment, and I'm sure I remember reading that Owen's only contracted to do around 100 shifts a year, so since he's done so many in the past couple of weeks it looks like he'll be missing for a fair bit later in the year.

Are they actually going to replace Kate Silverton on mornings? There are many relief or weekend presenters who could take over - so are they going to? Im tired of non-consistency...
