Adam Parsons on this morning, presumably he'll be doing the BBC One simulcast as well.

He seemed to handle the junction very well - at least to BBC One viewers, and clearly explaining he would be continuing on BBC News 24 at the same time. Seems strange with the next bulletin being at 7pm. Quite unusual but with so much rugby I suppose rather difficult to put a bulletin any earlier, and obviously you can't use BBC Two either because of the regions.

I read in the other thread that Sue Thearle presented with Simon this morning - was she any good?

And did Jane do her own shift as well as the One since the two are now in the same studio?

EDIT- I see Matt's on tonight as well, so assume Ben was on earlier. Anyone know why he hasn't got a regular shift at the moment.

Ben and Carrie were on the 11-2 shift.

Well with the move to N6 coming up, I suspect News 24 will have a new schedule, and as such are probably trying out new presenters.

Simon did the 8:30 - 9 shift on his own, and was joined at 9 by a tired-looking Sue Thearle. If you ask me some producer doesn't like Ben on the evening slot (can't say I disagree) and whenever Jon Sopel is on that slot (with Ben on afternoons) he always seems so bored and put out.

I suspect if the current schedule stays as it is, Louise will turn into Kate and fade away from News 24, most probably leaving Emily to cover (who eventually becomes regular presenter) - she now does all the relief duties on Breakfast (weekday and weekend) and is also deputy on the one - yet barely on N24 anymore!

PS watch out for Manish - remember Matt Frei did the exact same shift over holidays last year and landed himself WNA - is this the testing ground?

Re 0830 - 1100,

I suspect that whoever was to have done the shift alongside SM was unable so to do, hence the solo run till 0900. I think that Thearle might have been brought in as emergency cover, and hence her slightly dishevelled appearance. If this was the case she did a good job in the circumstances.

Is there a reason why Gabin Esler has been presenting the Five O'clock News, even though Huw has been presenting the Ten later in the night.

Sue Thearle was on the 11-2 shift today, rather good, even made Ben Brown seem good Laughing

Well Sue has been seen on Setanta News recently so she isn't a total novice at the rolling news gig.

I would imagine it would help.

IIRC she was the duty sports presenter on the 2003 powercuts and did a lot of ad libbing from the papers etc, she did seem better than Ben at this for some of the breaking news stories.

Some nice chemistry between Louise Minchin, Jon Sopel and Dan Walker this afternoon, discussing relative ages and sportsmen.

And also good to see Jon and Louise actually on together for once - they haven't been for months.
