he's actually incredibly bland on Football Focus. Never once seen him stray from the script or show any sign of personality - just right for BBC News then.

Manish was so wooden, can he find some personality presenting the news.
Might have been better if he had started on childrens tv news and then moved across to News 24 instead of working in sport.

He's very similar to Rajesh Mirchandani in style and voice except Rajesh has gone prematurely grey.

i'm suprised kate got the 1pm slot covering for sophie. would've thought it should go to sian - i don't know how these decisions are made. i like all of them to be honest - the only weak woman in the newsroom is susannah reid imo.

Why on earth are they sticking Jane Hill on World? Ok it's a bigger audience, but she's suited to One and N24 and she is liked.

it does appear that Minchin has pipped her slots on National news. Sad

Err IMO she was much better on World than she is paired up on News 24

as for Tim Willcox on World, no! He has presented the TWT shift twice this week.

your just saying that because she was on world- you cant come to that conclusion after 1 shift . jane hill is a well known face across BBC NEWS in the UK so she would NOT be better on world at all shes good with uk stories and nd N24.

Ok .. so its a bit dramatic , but what is the BBC doing? First Jane misses out on the 1 then she does not get the cover for Sophie, and now apparently she is off to BBC World.

I think she handles breaking news and comes across with gravitas.

I THINK SHE SHOULD HAVE THE SIX OR EVEN BE RELIEF PRESENTER FOR THE 10!

I like Kate , Louise and i love Sophie, not arsed with Sian - by the way this Manish bloke is good!

She's only providing relief cover - what's wrong with that? Tim Willcox has been doing the same recently on World, as did Adrian Finighan for News 24 when he was at BBC World.

Maybe she was offered the One, but turned it down.
Maybe the BBC don't think she's as good as some of you think she is.

It's also worth baring in mind that she's actually doing the same as she always has - remember...

Arrow She was only ever a relief presenter on the one - a position she still regularly does
Arrow She was on the six an awful lot at the start of last year as she was covering for all of Sian's BBC 1 slots [excluding Breakfast]
Arrow Louise's position is in addition to her N24 work, so perhaps isn't as highly paid as Jane would want or bad hours. Also remember Louise can [though she doesn't always] present N24 after the one on a friday, compared to Jane who presents right to the run up. Though that will be/ is different with all the studio changes.

Also Jane is absent an awful lot on N24 when she doesn't appear to be anywhere else - could this be because of personal/ health issues?

Plus Jane is one of the more senior members of the N24 team, and the beeb seem pretty keen to keep them (such as Matthew, Simon McCoy et al).

I think it's more that the beeb have changed their ways and are trying to use the best of their resources rather than having one or two identified relief presenters. Even look at Dermot - before he left Nick Owen and Ben Brown were often used instead of him on the six, and emily maitlis also pops up every now and then.

P.S. all these individual presenter threads are a joke - please stick to the designated 'News 24 presenters' thread or the 'BBC News - General'...

Jane isn't all that. Her delivery is irritating, if anything. She's quite vain, I recall seeing her presenting live from somewhere, and all she did off camera was look in her mirror, apply make up and contort her face into strange poses.
