Thanks for that, never seen him before, I don't watch Newsnight very often, must have been those times when he's not on.

Before his move to Newsnight in 2002, he used to present News 24 between 1900-2300 Mon-Thurs with Carrie Gracie.

Indeed. Gavin is also the male launch presenter of BBC News 24. Before that i believe he was a Washington D.C. correspondent.

Entertainment 24 is to have a new full time presenter - Tasmin Lucia Khan will replace James Dagwell et al. She will also present the new look 60seconds on BBC3 Monday - Thursday. www.tamsin.tv

Anyone know what's going to happen to the old presenters like James? I know they currently do 60seconds, Entertainment 24 and the Interactive loop, will they still have jobs elsewhere..?

I suppose a number of things could happen to James. He could continue on the interactive loop, as it doesn't mention Tasmin doing that, and he could still present things like Your News and fill in on 60 seconds. Alternatively, he could become a correspondent for the main news, like Julia Caesar seems to be now Declan does more hours, or maybe he'll even do some News 24 presenting.
Well he's just said he's going to present E24 - The Weekend Show, with Blue Peter's and Strictly Come Dancing's Gethin Jones which starts this weekend on News 24 - at 10.30am on Saturday, 5.45pm on Sat and Sun and 9.45pm on Sun.

Gavin suits the 5 O'clock news very well, its always a joy to see him, the friday one including film 24 is more watchable when he presents, nice to see him outside of this.

The Beeb must be trying out different presenters in different places...

Arrow Ben on the afternoon slot again [dont it a lot recently!]
Arrow Sophie Long on N24 with Matthew Amwroliwala [again done it lots recently]
Arrow Jane Hill on BBC World [can't see why else she'd be on...]
Arrow Manish on evenings [and very good]

Jon Sopel's never around [though mainly from America] and when he has he's been on evenings, Matthew's also had a go on evenings and Emily's been on afternoons with Ben a lot too. Also, Maxine Mawhinney is very good this afternoon Very Happy

Yea, Manish was very good last night...and Maxine's always good - either on her own or with a co-presenter: she always seems to have a laugh with her co-presenters (especially Simon and Jon.)

It's good to get a little bit of variation (at least for a little bit) - there could be a bit of a shakeup when News 24 moves studio - I hope Jane doesn't go to BBC World full time - it could be similar to Tim - covering on BBC World from time to time???

Will News 24 change the presenter slots when they move into the new set. Confused:

Why on earth are they sticking Jane Hill on World? Ok it's a bigger audience, but she's suited to One and N24 and she is liked.

it does appear that Minchin has pipped her slots on National news. Sad

Err IMO she was much better on World than she is paired up on News 24

as for Tim Willcox on World, no! He has presented the TWT shift twice this week.

Not to mention Silverton given the One ahead of Louise, Sian and Jane. I find it odd that she was chosen to launch the 8pm summary when she would be leaving it after approx six weeks.

Have to say, I really like him....always thought he was good on Footy Focus, but suits news just as well. All these presenters shifting about, makes you wonder who they are really lining up for Breakfast, if Mr Turnbull isnt to become the main weekday anchor.

But IMO, Manish should get a main weekday role....just seems like a good allround performer! Better than certain reporters they get to fill in!

Not to mention the fact that BBC News 24 does need more male presenters anyway...
