That's bullsh*t. News 24 should at least be in the running.

What an embarrasment. How ridiculous they aren't even shortlisted. A joke.

Can someone explain to me how News 24 this evening couldn't name the person charged over the murder of the 12 year old girl, however on a previous day they have named a minor who was arrested in connection with the crime. I always thought minors by default, could not be named in press reports unless a judge decided otherwise.

Poss because the person who shot her is only 16 and it could go to court. Naming the person (or explaining who the person is) could affect future court proceedings.

I can see why Al Jazeera is on the shortlist, but Sky and CNBC? Don't make me laugh. (sorry, I'm starting to sound like Phil Mitchell... Shocked)

That I understand, however as they have previously named someone who was arrested in connection, to me surely that could potentially prejudice the case.

Can I ask what the point is of airing the election programme on both BBC ONE and News 24? If you can get News 24, you can get BBC ONE. Why not limit the election programme to BBC ONE and keep News 24 rolling as usual overnight? There's absolutely no choice of BBC News for UK viewers overnight, yet they can watch exactly the same programme on two channels.

On another note, I presume this will mean BBC WORLD will have to produce their own news tonight?

Well, there is a choice for me. Being in Scotland means that on BBC One, I'll get the BBC Scotland coverage, whilst on News 24 i can get a UK-Wide perspective.

Must admit it doesn't make sense to Sim it on both channels. Not all of us are interested in Local Elections and an option of other news would be nice on News 24! Newswatch anyone?

Very well handled. The '1' is coming from N8 again with Sophie, but News 24 are rolling on location, with good coverage of Alan Ball's funeral.
Interesting to note the backup astons and lack of 'Live' bug, even though the ticker and DOG are still up.

The '1' even threw to Ben Brown, who did a seemless couple of minutes as part of the '1' - News 24 viewers wouldnt have known any different. BBC are handling this well.

Hmm this is interesting. I take it they must have had a production truck on location or News 24 was feeding through a different gallery at TVC while the '1' was on. Anyone know what they did? Or did Transmission just re-route the feed for News 24?

Different gallery - but not at TVC

I'm very much hoping that before too long, being the Elections results day, that News 24 will do a live in the 'engine room', the newsroom behind the desk, as they used to do quite often from time to time...it was a nice informative feature, obviously slightly awkward, having to de-rig and use the camera from the left hand pod, but is a different insight into the news operation.
