Don't know if anyone else noticed but today the 1 O'clock News was presented by Sophie Raworth from N8 (BBC News 24's Studio). I don't normally see the 1 because im at work. Is this normal or was there some kind of problem with N6?

It's prodominately used for sport and relief situations these days. But yes, it is still used.

The best chances of seeing it be used are when programmes like Dateline are on and they need time to set up the main presenting area. Think it gets used less as its quite distracting to the presenter to present from the Pod.

Just what is the point of News 24 Tonight?

Weak titles and a format almost exactly identical to the other hours.

Either do something very different and get some decent titles, or abandon the idea.

I think its pretty much the same as the usual N24 news too.
And the titles they have are rather bad.
They could make the text look just a tad 3D.

News24 Tonight does work on days when the news flow is slow, it gives National viewers an opportunity to see regional stories that normally would be lost. Recently there's been far too many National and International stories which rightfully get prominance, resulting in the regional output getting dropped.

The old titles/bed is better. I do miss the slow and mild sting.
