Why are N24 making Dan sit down for the weather!?

I understand he was doing an item at the desk - but they could've put a weather photo or summat up to let him get over to the pod.

I would understand if it was someone boring like Kirsty Mcabe or Rob McElwee, but not our Dan!

They were preparing the Film 24 set. Usually on Friday the weather comes from the weather studio but Dan was brought in to discuss the record temperatures.

OK, this seems to have stopped now, but moments ago for the first 5 minutes or so of Click, I could hear rustling of paper and Alistair Yates going "Yeah", "OK" and such, before eventually saying "I'll disappear" followed by some more rustling and background noise (fan-esque, don't know how else to describe it) before seemingly finally halting, although same noise was heard briefly at the end of the first piece, and then again for a bit just now. It seems that BBC are copying sky, using the ticker for Breaking News. It flashes up Breaking, and then the story scrolls along. This repeats until they are able to cut back to the studio which is followed by the full aston.

Why dont they use the Breaking News sting music anymore? It was really nice the remix.

Not seen it on N24, but I hope they don't plan on using it from now on. I think a constant "breaking news" ticker is a silly idea, because (especially on Sky) it can stay on screen for 10 minutes or more, and it could just be repeating the same sentence for all that time. Far better to have the "breaking" story in-between say, 3 or 4 regular headlines (on yellow still, compared to the black)

They've done that for ages, including with the older ticker. The thing below the tower used to change from INTERACTIVE to BREAKING with a red background. So no, they're not really copying SKY.

Hilarious and very awkward moment for Peter Sissons on N24 earlier this afternoon where he was joined by Julian Bennett (slightly camp fashion expert from the UK version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and other programmes more recently I think) complete with Dashund Lulu sitting on his lap throughout the piece in the studio! They were talking about some new Police uniforms I think when at the end of the piece Sissons asked whether the dog was a real dog or an accessory, Julian said she was a real dog called Lulu to which Julian followed "would you like to stroke her?" where a slightly embarrassed Sisson's replied "no not now, maybe later" to which Julian replied "ooh promises promises!" with a camp side glance. Sissons was completely flummoxed by this, started to go red and falter, and seemed so unsettled that he had no idea which item was coming up next, started mumbling “where are we going now, what are doing…” shuffling his papers with a panicked look on his face, obviously appealing to somebody in the gallery to rescue him. Eventually he managed to compose himself but at one point I didn’t think he was going to be able to carry on he looked so uncomfortable! The Dashund was very cute though complete with glistening Diamante collar.

The 'Breaking' section on the current ticker has been there since the re-launch.

Indeed, the very first introduction of the ticker on News 24 was designed for use only during breaking news stories - hence it's patchy appearances in the early days of the earlier relaunch also being a very weird orange and blueish colour.

Ah yes, I remember now. However it was strange to see 'Breaking' flash up over and over and over again. Just an observation.

On another note, the set is looking a bit tired at the moment and the washed out screens seem to get worse by the day. Rolling Eyes

Somebody who works in the newsroom told me that there will be new sets either this year or early next year. I doubt you belive me though.
