Can anyone tell me why over the weekend BBC News24 was in what I think is the Newsnight/Newsround studio? The backdrop looked awful. Couldn't the BBC with ther millions of pounds spent on News each year find a proper stand-by studio? This has happened before and makes BBC News24 look amateur. What do you think?

Can anyone suggest an alternative? A new second studio? At least until the move to the new BBC News Headquarters in Broadcasting House in two years?

The News 24 studio was closed over the weekend for the second phase of it's electrical testing (as explained earlier in the thread by Media Boy).

And it was the main BBC News studio ( N6). It looked OK to me (except that strange background).

More like 5 years by all accounts.

I have to say I thought it was the Newsround studio as BBC News would be using the main set for their weekend bulletins on BBC1 and it would cause disruption to BBC News24 to make way three times per day for the main BBC1 news bulletins?

I have to say that the backdrop looked hideous to me. Who invented it? Surley they could have done something better?

Also why is it when Iam watching Peter Sissons on BBC News24, I think how can he be classified as a newsreader. He constantly stumbles over every sentence. I don'nt think hes really got over the Queen Mother News Rport incident? He should go.

You may 'have to say' it, but you're wrong to say it.

News 24 came from N6 and they simulcast all BBC One bulletins.

On a different topic...does anyone else think that N24 have found a new dream couple - Ben Brown and Joanna Gosling. Have never really rated either before they were paired up, the 7-10pm slot on N24 is now the perfect mix of hard news, great discussion and the odd laugh. Better even than Jon and Louise I think.

I think the BBC realised that Ben and Joanna were a good coupleing, hence why keeping Joanna in the 7pm - 10pm slot after Emily had returned.

It's probably because she is so good that it offsets the fact that he is so unutterably f-cking awful.

Send him back to hiding in bushes in Africa. Please.

Cruel, but unfortunately accurate in the tone of the sentiment expressed.

So is it true that Joanna has replaced Emily, or is it just part of the new BBC News presenter flexibility? If it's true, what's Emily gonna be doing?

Well we've seen Emily doing other shifts now and again on BBC News 24 of late, along with some bulletins on BBC One (the One and weekend) and being in the pool of Newsnight presenters - that could be her role. That is a fair amount of work there.

Does anyone have any idea where Nicholas Owen will fit into the schedule?

I think he will be doing weekends as he is only part-time, IIRC.
