Why does they use that image on the "newswall" all the time, it seems to be the standard image left on when it isnt being used and can be seen in almost every "behind the scenes/rehearsal" photos. Why don't they just turn it off rather than use the BBC building as a screensaver of sorts?

But if you were showing off your three sided newswall cum studio, would you prefer to have it off (ie just black) or on with an image like that on to give an impression to the photographer of what it can do.
Plus, when rehearsing, or with the possibility of recorded links/interviews to be done, it's probably better for the presenters involved to have it on at the background they'll be using rather then off or switched to a monotone green or something.

AIUI the screens are left on permanently as they behave erratically when turned off then on again.
Something has to be left feeding them and it's ususally just the image from the previous programme.
