If N6 is Viz equipped, which it seems it is, why not just load in the N24 graphic templates, bar the ticker, and run it manually with someone inputting text. They could also share N24 report package graphics, and run that through the Viz Engine.

Was watching the World/N24 simulcast ( TOTH to BOTH) last nite and noticed two things that made me wonder whether it was actually being simulcast:

Arrow Big Al mentioned the TIME (UK GMT) which is never done on World due to the different time zones across the world
Arrow Big Al reviews the front pages of the UK sunday papers.

Also noticed over the past couple of weeks that at the TOTH, there is no headlines, but the countdown goes straight into a sting, and then straight into the news.

If it was after five past one and two, that is because World opted out to show a 50minute programme, and when BBC World show documentaries during 'overnight' they usually open with a sting and no headlines.

BBC WORLD 24
Often on BBC WORLD at the weekend they don't always broadcast a full half-hour bulletin. Instead we have a five-minute summary of the news (with no headlines), followed by the weather and then they will show a 50 minute programme. (e.g. The Doha Debates)

This only occurs at the weekend. Similar to News 24 at 11am on Sunday when they show Dateline London.

So therefore sometimes on overnights at the weekend they will not do headlines at TOTH and after 5 minutes BBC WORLD will opt out and show its own programmes, leaving 'Big Al' to say whatever he wishes to the UK domestic viewers.

Hope this has helped answer your question. Very Happy

News 24 doesn't actually do that for Dateline London anymore, it's only half an hour long.

I thought a previous post in this thread said that N6 was controlling the Viz equipment in N8 remotely. This could just be a standard PC with remote desktop or VNC type software giving remote control of the machine in N8.

Because News 24's was underneath. All throughout the night on BBC World we saw the crappy 15minute headlines ticker up covering News 24's sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn't one hour it was BBC Worlds normal ticker, one hour there was none, and just BBC News 24's dog with time, which made us World Viewers see.

BBC World broke off at 5 mins past for weather and then their own programming.

BBC News 24 was then able to mention UK centric information - time - newspapers etc.

Clock and ticker were awful last night. Programmes failed to play out(resulting in two weather forecasts in two minutes) then tickers disappearing but blank or with text and no clock or clock and no ticker.

Guess it still needs some fine tuning...

What a bloody mess! Just think, BBC World is the BBC's most watched channel with over 60 million viewers a week and they can't get the ticker/clock right!

None of whom pay the license fee, so what gives them the right to complain?

Most pay a subscription so they have every right to complain as do the cable channels and airlines who pay the BBC for the service.

I gather the clock issue is completely out of BBC World's hands. It was a decision by News24. I guess BBC Worldwide are very unhappy with BBC news
