If they increased the font and made the clock a bit bigger where it was I would have supported that, but it looks so out of place where it is... And the gaping hole where the clock used to be looks ridiculous. Overall it was a really good revamp and there's probably a few more tweaks in the works, lets hope they move it back. It's not as if 4:3 viewers don't have a clock in their home anyway!

It doesn't look that bad now, in all honesty, but I preferred it how it was.

Couldn't they just have made it 14:9 safe? Or are there too many recievers around which only do 16:9 or 4:3?

It's an interesting idea, I'd prefer is the whole box was black not just the bit directly around the clock, but at least 4:3ers can see the time now...

I wonder if they'd relaunched without the clock at all if they'd have still introduced it a couple of weeks later?

So hopefully this means I can see the clock now ?

Why couldn't you see it before? Are you technically inept?

Nah, on the left bottom mine started from 'BBC NEWS 24' cutting off the time. Thanks for asking Wink

You must have had your TV set up wrong then.

Ok, great. It works when I put it in the 'Widescreen' mode, but I don't like it as all the heads go like skinny eggs! But now their shouldn't be a problem if NEWS24 have fixed it . . . So I shall keep it in 'normal' mode.
(Telewest TV, or Virgin Media - which hasn't arrived).

What about adjusting your receiver box too (Digital or Freeview or whatever) to 16:9 / widescreen / letterbox so that you don't get a compressed image?

I think it looks fine, to be honest.

But, on principle, I don't think they should have given in to the 4:3 luddites. If people are being encouraged to switch to digital, why aren't they getting the same encouragement to switch to a widescreen picture? This was a good opportunity to push that - and they could even have done a 'how to get your clock back' type feature.

God this really annoys me - widescreen has been going for 10 years now and still we are at the status quo of having graphics all lined up for the minority of people who still have 4:3 sets - it looked alot better before they moved it - now less than half the screen has the ticker on it.

What's more - someone with a 4:3 set must be able to see very little in the way of ticker now too so it all seems a bit pointless.

MOVE IT BACK!!
