I don't expect the nationals to change, they've not been around that long yet have they? If anything it's N24's titles that have been brought in to line to match, not the other way around.

You'll have to see at 1pm. Remember Nationals go out on News 24 these days Wink

I think they could change; the newer titles weren't that much different to the older ones. I think it was just something to lead up to a bigger update. Then again, I could be wrong.

Wasn't it when they introduced their new set...

I wish News 24, would move into the national set, or do its own. The Current set seems so cramped and messy, wires and printers on show behind desks...

News 24 could really do with the big newswall/screens to get presenters away from the desk, aslo the blue from the National's Backing is a nice contrast to the bright red and white.

Yes, but the actual titles had little change. The actual set is only a stopgap anyway.

Does the ticker and red bit (what's that going to be called, the bungalow?) stay on screen during the weather?

You'll know what'll happen now...

Sky's graphics were better before they started going all caps, and red strap headers, and ruining the Breaking News Strap.

Personally I think both are great, there are things I prefer from both. Now if Sky was to ditch their schedules and go back to rolling news, and using the newswall, and 3D graphs, court rooms etc, then I will start watching it again, and if News 24 got away from sitting down and talking, and got rid of their set, I would watch it.

If someone could get some caps/video it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Speaking of Sky News's Ticker, it's very fast. The whole ticker placeholder is ugly and there are too many animations down there that distract you when your eyes are trying to keep up with the news. And breaking the news up with "visit news.sky.com" hardly helps. BBC News's is much slower and designed for reading.

Kind of lacks the impact of the old "Breaking News" strap, I thought - the handy thing about the old one was that it'd get me turned back to the telly if I was off doing the ironing or whatever. This one's very slick and shiny, yes, but it just sort of glides onto the screen without particularly announcing its presence.

Guess I'll just have to pay more attention while I'm ironing from now on.

Oh - and hello all, by the way

I really like the changes, I think it would be nice if all the straps adopted an animation like the business/sport ones.

The titles will take some getting used to (but I think we will see more of them anyway Wink )

The music, part of me is thinking its nice and pacey, the headline bed is a bit weak at the beginning with no proper thunderclap (but hopefully this in turn will lead to the end of the nationals restarting the bed at each headline Razz ). I do however think that this is the last time the current theme can be refreshed as it is just getting diluted now.

The only real moaning point for me is the position of the graphics. On my wide-screen CRT television the ticker and the live aston is cut off, like this image I have chopped up below;

I seem to remember Sky News when it relaunched cut most of the ticker off, yet when I checked earlier I can read it. Have fiddled with my telly's aspect ration and had a look at the freeview box to no avail. Its a shame because it is the only thing that is really wrong with this refresh. Sad

I've not "watched" News 24 in a long while, but from what I've seen this morning I'm pleasantly impressed.

Compared to how it was a couple of years ago, they've upped the pace, added more live reports and basically done everything which Sky has (stupidly) ditched more recently.

It kinda reminds me of the old Sky News circa 2004.

Isn't it amazing what a new, pacier, headline bed can do for a channel aswell. The last one was slow and dull, this one is just.... wow!

EDIT: First gripe - the ticker is perfectly readable for me, however the "Live" and location bug is cut off - as in the post above - on my tv. Shame really, because otherwise it's a really slick package.
