For the 10'o clock thing...

Build a small video screen next to the main studio about 1m wide with the same graphics as the main studio screens

At the end of the 10 on beeb 1 - "..across the UK" The sting for the 10 would come up and at the end it just zooms in on the desk in the studio again but (possibly) with the N24 graphics (the ones they used when N24 moved to the 1,6 and 10 studio for a weekend last year) not sure if this could have the same presenter as the 10 or a different one, then a presenter walks over to the tiny video screen and gives the headlines live at the end of the regions. It wouldn't be that hard

Hi,

All the bits about small screens are not needed really? Confused Surly they could just do it from the desk?

I'm sorry BB, but when bbc140 makes more sense than you it's a bad sign. Perhaps you should ask Mrs Crocks to stop paying for your internet for a little while.

no, read a few pages back, and you'll see that this would mean that the 10 o'clock news hour could continue in the national's studio, but for the 10's headline update the small screen would be needed

But that would not save money, so would not happen. What would be the point of staffing two gallerys and studio instead of 1. The News 24 gallery and studio are staffed during the 10, incase of breaking news, when they would pull away from the bulletin. If the whole 10 hour came from the national studio, it would involve having both studios and gallery's staffed the entire time. Another thing would be, who will present the second half of the 10, Huw would not be able to do it because he has to go to the meeting afterwards and then has to catch the tube home. If the news 24 presenter did it, that worked on the bulletin between 11 and 12.30, it would mean a very messy TOTH at 11, with them having to run from one studio to another. It would not be considered cost effective enough at the moment i am afraid.

A national news presenter getting the tube home? Unless that's by personal choice, I highly doubt it!

think i remember Alastair Stewart mentioning he took the tube to work, but this is the BBC we're talking about here. Huw probably has a taxi waiting to whisk him home.

He has to, he's banned from driving IIRC

When I was in London recently, I was staying out at Shepherd's Bush for a while, and I saw Simon McCoy on the Underground - heading home, I guess, after one of his shifts on air. So clearly some news presenters must take the tube. Who knew they were ordinary people just like the rest of us? Wink
