no - the titles and music are exceptional but the breaking news thing should have a little tiny video overlay - like the last titles - of a globe and some ear-catching (??!) music to go with it
That's called a splash. Hence my original point - the BBC can never win. When they introduced the splash in 2003 people said it was over-the-top and too "in your face". Now that it's gone, people want it back!
Is it just me or have I not heard the breaking hews music lately? I also think that when the breaking news banner shrinks after a while it should expand full screen for a bit and then shrink again.
I don't agree woth comments saying the graphics are boring. So you're saying all other graphics stay interesting? The last set of News 24? They aren't boring at all.
By saying they are bored of them, does not equate to them NOT finding the prior graphics boring.
I don't feel graphics are there to be "New" or "Interesting", but to get the information across to the viewers, whilst maintaining a consistant style related to that bulletin, broadcast or channel.
I think the graphics package is still relatively new to everyone, as everyone grows more confident with the system and it being more accessible they will be able to experiment more.
EDIT: Ticker back. Also, breaking news during the programme, covered by a strap. Full screen report graphics seem to be aligned to News 24 straps, but of course all the name straps are obliterated by the breaking news strap. Perhaps when N6 gets its new kit and graphics they'll be able to toggle between normal straps and BN straps like they used to.
EDIT again: Oh, strike what I said about report graphics being N24 strap friendly, some during the BA strike story where all but hidden by the BN strap.

They used a slightly different wide at 13:00 last Sunday - a static shot from the right-hand side of the studio. It was rather like the BBC World wide shot but looked better and very nice at that...its a pity they don't use more variation like that. The only bad thing about it is that it kinda shows some clutter in the studio - the chair, printer, some equipment in the 'pod' on the leftt etc.
And that newsreader Charlie Stayt is excellent IMO - he is overflowing with confidence and almost cocky in a way - but he's so natural in front of the camera - he'd make a good permanent replacement for Sissons in the afternoons.
The Live graphic at the top of the screen has been moved several times. When the new graphics first appeared it was off my screen, a day later it had been moved and I could see half of where they were live. It's now been moved almost completely back to where it was before the new graphics started.
It's a pretty minor pres observation, but I noticed this evening that they have added the "Britain's most watched news channel" tag to the BOTH sting, something which was missing since the graphics updates. "RTS News Channel Of The Year" was correctly in place on the TOTH titles from the start though.
Re: the previous post - I've not seen the ticker jumping around anywhere near as much as you've suggested. From what I've seen, the ticker was half off my screen on the first day, and was then moved down on each of the two days after that. Since then, it's stayed in precisely the same place to my eyes.
The only other change that they've made has been some minor adjustments to the ticker positioning and text size, and the position and size of the clock and DOG.
And on an unrelated note, I still hate the News 24 Tonight titles. Very very poor - although still nowhere near as bad as the new Sportsday titles and the almost hyperactive headline bed they use for Sportsday as well. Quite awful.
Breaking News should be more noticeable - once you've had the strap flashing a couple of times it changes to a strap that isn't much different from the sport/business/news in brief/interactive - oh, in fact all of the other straps that have the insert above the DOG. Apart from the words 'breaking news' there's no difference. Hardly in your face is it? Perhaps the whole strap should be a brighter red, and the insert above the DOG extend above the strap with a bigger animating globe?
Thought of one way of doing this - get the words 'breaking news' on the globe to animate repeatedly like they used to - i.e. wipe

The ticker should have a way of showing breaking news once the strap has gone, like the last set of graphics, with perhaps the background changing colour, or just the background behind the header 'breaking news' (instead of the usual 'headlines' etc) could change to red?
They
have
been using the ticker to show breaking news this morning, but with no change in colours or emphasis in any way.
