Actually, that's NOT the gist of it at all...
"However, Taylor said the News 24 time box would not be moved back as most viewers had the option to watch in widescreen even on a conventional 4:3 television."
Thats what he said on BBC Editors blog but he has now said this

Apologies if this is old news, or mentioned elsewhere, but...

The gist is it looks like the clock's going to move back into the 4:3 zone - with a few other tweaks too.

I have a strange idea, maybe you could burn a DVD with a testcard image on it and then adjust it?
Best overscan would be 5% for left and right and 3% or 4% for the bottom and top.
If you overscan by a different amount vertically to horizontally then you'll end up with the wrong geometry on your picture! You'd be badly advised to try and adjust overscan just because of this BBC News 24 issue, since they have clearly got it wrong and admitted as much!

People were questioning what the house style was with BBC News for certain items. And questioning the lack of consistency. This evening I have noticed within the space of 30 minutes the location strap being in both capitals and mixed case. Come on BBC - pick one and run with it.
Also, the LIVE and location strap may now be lower, but the exclusive used earlier this evening was still too high up.

someone said the other day that America doesn't appear in the new titles. If you look closely it does, just befor the last data stream appears to reveal the final symbol.

Will the clock be moved at the weekend for Breakfast from the News24 studio so its visible on analogue? Or can the new kit produce the Breakfast graphics set?

Don't you think that the animation on the headline bar looks a little like the compress animation on MS PowerPoint??

I don't like the way the ticker just pops in, it would have been better if they put on a nice spinning effect, like Sky Sports cricket scoreboard.

On the new opening titles for BBC News, does anyone else expect the old music from the era of the blue computer generated titles to be heard?
