it would only work if
1. they were made by a mod, and the existing threads were closed first to prevent the rota folk stomping their feet at being evicted.
2. normal people ignore the rota thread so we can let them play in their little creche and keep out of the interesting thread.
I really hope this will happen, and soon.

Like Hyma, I regularly miss any tweaks that occur because of the daily fantasy rotas. Surely separate threads would solve the problem?

Hear hear!! Separate threads, this has been floated so many times and dismissed. But yes, it would have to be the mods that instigated such a move, and all current generic threads would have to be closed for a fresh start.
The purpose of the threads would have to be very clear-cut, and it could only work if the rota threads were ignored by older members. Unfortunately these tedious people who started their rota obsession back in the ITV News Channel thread a couple of years ago seem to have spread to all areas of The Newsroom. There isn't much hope of getting rid of them, so they'll have to be accommodated in a way that doesn't affect other members.
I'm sure (and forgive me if I'm wrong) that Asa, Ison and Charlie would agree with itsrobert that, broadly speaking, rota discussion was not the original purpose of TVF and it should not impinge on those who joined this forum to discuss TV presentation in the branding sense.
