With all due respect, the 'TV Home' section includes an Eastenders thread where they're discussing the storylines! Surely if that can feature on TV Home alongside ITV1 discussion, presenter rotas can feature alongside graphic tweaks on the Newsroom Exclamation

The thing, itsrobert, that gets me on this forum is how angry members can get so quickly, as if someone's personally attacking them. If you see a post about presenters, and don't like discussing presenters, then ignore it! If I see a really boring point about something, I don't post a message saying it's boring, I move on or ignore it. Why can't others???

Moving onto News 24 (and no not about tickers or titles), why do they insist on doing the weather from the N24 set on the five? The screen gives such a small view of the map, it's hardly worth it! I'd rather they did it in greenscreen or zoom in so you can't see the presenters hands. Hopefully this should change once they've moved into N6.

I've got to say that I'm getting really cheesed off with all this talk of presenters, shifts and rotas. It is incredibly boring. When this forum launched in 2001, it was about idents, graphics, music, sets and presenters. Now, it seems as though every thread is taken over by the same tedious discussion of presenters. There is more to being a TV pres fan than that, you know.

Hear hear!

Who's on News 24 at the moment?

Sarcasm in my post above is in red. News24 not spotting that is below, in green.

Tim has already been on, doing Matthew's shift. Chris Eakin would be a much better bet to bring forward into the daytime schedule to cover - he's done it all before, he's the man for chemistry!

On now are Ben and Louise

I think it would also be good if the Six O'Clock News Hour was made more consistent, coming from the same studio and with the same presenter all hour, it just seems very disjointed at the moment

Yes, I'd also like this for News 24. There's no reason for it not happening as TC7 wouldn't be used for anything else. Perhaps the second half could be like the five o'clock news hour, with Film24/Entertainment 24 filling some of the time...

It's not the fact you're discussing presenter that is the problem. The discussion of Trevor McDonald coming back to News at Ten is interesting because its something unusual. What you lot discuss is akin to us listing every headlines that appears on the ticker.

Not only that but the fact that the discussion is utter, unfounded c r ap. When Claire didn't turn up to my work today my first thought wasn't "oh, maybe they're trying her out for human resources" it was, oh she must be ill, or not be able to get over the bridge because of the weather. Mundane things happen to people on telly too. Maybe Willcox is covering for someone because their bath leaked and they are stuck at home waiting for a plumber? Oh no, they must be *trying him out* for the Ten.

Idiots. The lot of you. Just get a grip.

Would Newsround not be in TC7?

This evening - just in case I'm the only one that noticed - and i hope this is a valid PRESENTATION point to make . . . . .

. . . .News24 suddenly broke away from The 6 o'Clock News to provide Live Breaking News of Kenny Richey arriving back in Edinburgh from Death Row in America. It was not the most stimulating of 'live at the scene' reports and - in my opinion - didn't warrant breaking away from the full 6 o'clock bulletin. Obviously because they had broke away - they then had to finish the '6 to 6.30 half hour' from the News24 desk.

So - to the points made above - is it right that this happens? Or should they not just make the decision that 6 to 6.30 is the 6 0'clock news and if anything happens in that half hour then the six o'clock team should make the decison on whether to report it - or leave it til 6.30 for News24 to bring the update.

What do you think?

After all the tweaking is finished, the six will be in TC7 leaving N6 empty during the news, so it will be easy to break away and for the six to announce the Breaking News and tell viewers to turn over for the latest, unless its a major story.

If this really is a problem, I'd suggest you are as guilty as anyone else. A quick look back through the archives will find you yourself discussing BBC World and News 24 rotas and Tim Willcox's "busy workload".

Yes, the amount the man is on is clearly something to discuss - its very unusual. Its definitely not at the tedious-levels menitoned.

I think square eyes sums it up. You're *all* sad dweebs! But as I may have mentioned it's a very VERY fine line between following the every subtlety of presenter shifts and stalking. And before you know it, you're in the sewers under their houses sifting the faeces to see what they had for dinner that night.
