BBC News 24 just dropped the Six O'Clock News at 18:24 and went straight into a News conference about the fire at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I pressume they were not expecting this conference otherwise would they have taken the Six O'Clock News?
Maybe they showed the Six O' Clock News knowing the press conference would be at 18:25, so they'd only miss the weather or one of the less-important stories?

Going by the way they dropped it i would say they were not expecting it or not expecting it so soon.
He's done double shifts, or two separate shifts, virtually every day through the festive season, including New Year's Eve / New Year's Day. In fact I don't remember the last time he only did a 'normal' cover shift. Given he's on World most of the time when he can't be seen on News 24, there aren't many on screen faces who come close to this man, in terms of time on the air, and constant solid performances
and Tim Workaholicocks looks like he's doing a double today too, Started at Two and seems to be doing the sSeven to Ten slot too.
He also did the 5 o clock news
It's really annoying me now how much Tim is on. He's not one of my favourite newsreaders, although I could cope with seeing him a few times a week, but not twice in one day!
EDIT: I think we were having similar thoughts at the same time there Jugalug
