No it's 60 seconds long.

I thought they were made as 90 second countdowns, although hardly ever used in full.

SET's Ian Palmer doing the News 24 OB for the Peter Tobin / Margate story this morning.

I think he should be on N24 a lot more when they cover a story from that region as he's one of the better reporters in the SET news team.

Ian Palmer has actually been reporting on News 24 since at least August.

Just a quick idea I had. I think it would be useful to position the desk in the centre, and have two large screen in the corners of the set. I know many are going to say why do you need screens when there is a mssive wall to put things on - well, it doesn't matter, you can use both but the screens help break up the boring interior of the set, and give some sort of focal point for the sport/weather/business reports.

The 1999 and 2003 versions were 90s long, but from 2005 onwards the countdown was shortened to just 60 seconds long.

Just spotted a mistake on the ticker. The first story was about literacy being taught in schools, and the very next one said 'For the first time in decades a Japanese whaling fleet has set sail aiming to harpoon humpbak whales' Shocked I wonder if it was a deliberate spelling mistake Razz

Some fantastic coverage this morning with Simon and Carrie. News 24 stuck with LIVE coverage of the implosion of a hotel in Las Vegas...Carrie desperately trying to get editorial to break away, joking with simon about what his plans were for the weekend........

Very funny!

Video here

"Shall we really stick with this?"
"We've got to! It's.. spectacular!"

Very Happy

The video link just doesnt seem to work for me. I see a black screen after the advertisement Confused

That's quite interesting - might be worth emailing and letting them know.

The ads (for international viewers) are relatively new, so there may be some sort of technical problem they dont know about.

Yeah he's done it before, in years gone by he used to present for YTV's Calendar.

Is there any need for News 24 to be carrying the Queen's 60th anniversary service? I've never understood this: anyone who can watch News 24 also has access to BBC One. Why can't they just keep it on BBC One and continue with the news on News 24?

It's a similar situation every week with PMQs. The Daily Politics gives it in-depth coverage on BBC Two, so why does it have to be shown on News 24 as well? Surely they are just duplicating resources?
