I think the reason the Six is being treated differently is because this is clearly becoming a very very high profile programme for BBC News, and probably has been for quite a while.

Am I right in thinking that more people watch the Six than the One and the Ten? Thus creating a specific big new thing for the Six would be quite bbeneficial as they can say that it's a higher profile than the Ten and the One.

Uniformity is getting very boring now.

I'd say generally speaking the Ten o'clock News is now watched more.

The only reason the Six is in a slightly different situation is because of the time it airs - only having to compete with Newsround for studio space, which possibly will switch to some simple CSO arrangement.

Any timescale for this? Could be done immediately couldn't it? No infrastructure changes, just different backdrops (which are done at a flick of a switch in N6 and TC7 now), somewhere to shove Newsround, and the breakfast sofa moved to TC7.

This is great news for BBC World but really bad for News 24. The BBC One set is not good enough for a 24 hour news channel.
When will this happen????

Why? It's a proper studio, which is more than can be said for N8.

But there's no newsroom behind. It's a nice set but not to be used all they long.

What will you say about CNN that does it all day long. News24 will have to find ways that will make it interesting. It is not a problem. Alot of graphics and nice camara movements will do the trick.

Yeah, if they make good use of the wall, with proper story related graphics/pictures, then it'd look cool.

Well, it will be like Sky News with graphics on the newswall.
I love CNN but hate their new sets, they are terrible.

Though it could equally be argued that the Six has access to a studio that is unused between 1800 and 1830, whereas the One and Ten don't because of existing programmes in that studio (Working Lunch and Newsnight)

Not exactly. The Six and Ten get roughly similar order of magnitude ratings - though the Ten is often higher than the Six at the moment.

The One has a smaller audience - but a much larger share (often between 40 and 50% - sometimes more than 50% - of people watching TV at the time are watching the One) but the total audience during the day is smaller.
