My only worry about George going single on the Six is for how it'll seem on 24. We'll have a single headed Five, with Huw, then a single headed Six, with George.

I've always questioned the scheduling of Huw's 24 slot. I'd prefer it if they ditched News 24 Tonight (which seems no different than any other News 24 hour except the titles!) and put Huw on from 8pm to 9pm.

As it is we have no 'normal' News 24 between 5pm and 8pm, with a succession of special programmes - the Five, the Six News Hour, and News 24 Tonight. Better to have normal service from 1.30 to 6, the 6 for an hour, a normal hour from 7 til 8, Huw on from 8 to 9, normal from 9 til 10, then Huw on again on the Ten. Would break it up a bit.

Don't suppose anybody has got any caps of the "behind the scenes" images of News 24 used this morning on Breakfast to introduce the job losses in the BBC?

I'm surprised no-one's spotted this...

Quote:
We’ll streamline output by creating a single television team looking after News 24 and BBC1 bulletins based on the first floor. Staff will work across all output but there will be dedicated effort for the Six and the Ten. News 24 will broadcast from N6, while the Six will move to TC7.

Breakfast will also go to TC7

And the reason Breakfast moved out of TC7 was cost-cutting, oh well. Wonder if they will take this opportunity with Dermot leaving to re-jig things a bit? With the vast expanse that is TC7, might they revert to just having a sofa again?

I presume that News 24 will keep the London skydrop?

Well, the new set was more the money saving part of it.

I hope so, that Newsroom backdrop that News 24 use when in N6 is dreadful.

Briefing given to TV News staff today.

Headlines are :

News 24 moves to the current BBC One studio, the One and Ten stay in this studio (and presumably become opts-in to News 24, rather than simulcasts)

BBC World move to the current BBC News 24 studio. The BBC World studio is mothballed - but remains "technically viable" (let's hope they don't power it down then...) as a backup. Overnights stay in the current News 24 studio (i.e. the new BBC World studio)

Breakfast moves to the current Newsround/Working Lunch/Newsnight studio - allowing BBC One Breakfast and News 24 Breakfast to still split at 0830.

The Six also moves to this studio (fun turnaround after Newsround)

The News 24 / One / Six / Ten share a single newsroom based on the first floor, with BBC World moving to the second floor (currently News 24) newsroom.

Expect some programmes to come from odd studios in odd locations next year...

I always regret questions like this, but where is the BBC Four/BBC World "World News Today" broadcast from?

No surprise they are combining studios - the only real problem it causes is around 10pm when News 24, the Ten o'clock News and Newsnight are all fighting for studio space.

Do we think then News 24 will go the ITV route with a CSO studio as they prepare for the main news, or could we see something like a simulcast with BBC World from 9pm.

At lunchtime though and I'm surprised Working Lunch isn't at risk, considering it's shunted around the BBC2 schedules now. Scrapping this and incorporating it into the second half of a "One o'clock News Hour" might have been an idea - and with Neighbours gone it could even go out on BBC1.

The same newsroom for Radio and Interactive, which i'm sure will be fun for all concerned. There is also due to be more national / regional input into the main bulletins and on N24 too.

There's a whole load of other stuff that doesn't appear to be published anywhere, such as the English Regions losing their BBC buses but that's for another thread...

But would the Ten be broadcast in the 'new' News 24 studio (current nationals studio) and Newsnight would be from the other news studio (as the Six and Breakfast etc)?

I would have thought the riskier time would be around 5.40pm and 6pm - once Newsround finishes and the Six starts

Why is the Six being treated differently from the One and Ten?

Why do they need to prepare for the main news? They don't need to prepare for the Five, and that's a similar style programme.

Well that shafts News 24's ability to break away from the One or Ten to cover breaking news, unless there will be an alternate gallery and broom cupboard for News 24 in any such case.
