Probably just a lack of experience.

I don't think so. He first came to my attention hosting World News Updates on NBC Super Channel in 1995 and he was with ITN into the new millenium, then he switched to BBC News 24, which is where he's been ever since.

I wouldn't call 12 years a lack of experience.

Blasphemy!

Further speculation in today's Media Guardian about the dropping of '24' from BBC News 24...?

Quote:
New brand of BBC news
Monkey had always wondered who provides the news for the BBC's radio networks. It turns out it's the BBC! In the most superfluous rebranding of all time, BBC newsreaders have been instructed to announce "BBC News" at the beginning and end of its radio news bulletins, including Today. So instead of "BBC Radio 4 News" it is now "BBC News for Radio 4". It's all about branding and "strengthening the identity of BBC News", see? Listeners were unimpressed and besieged the corporation with complaints. But word has it the trend could shift to TV. Forget about BBC News 24. What price plain old BBC News?

Bizarre black and white feed of the Lib Dem leadership announcement.

It looked like one of those recreations in a docu-drama.

At least N24 had live pictures which is more than can be said for Sky.

Quite ironic it being in b&w considering how one of Ming's biggest criticisms was for being so old fashioned.

Utterly bizarre how this was done. Whoever is in the Lib Dem press office should be shot. To tell news teams that your leader is resigning and you're going to make an announcement, then not actually give anyone enough time to get there is really poor media management!

Sky had the announcement out (in glorious technicolour...) a couple of mins after the BBC's 1960s live version. Very odd.

ITV News also missed the Live.

Looks like they didn't have time to set up the lighting properly or the correspondent had stepped slightly 'out of the light'...

Thats the thing with the News 24/World graphics, thers not much space for text. Sometimes, like the above cap, it looks very narrow.
