Apparently not... Sourcing decent replacement images, getting the right countdown graphics and editing it are not easy without the right kits of parts and facilities. Trivial if you do have them though...

They could go back to one of the original countdowns for a few days until they sort it out!

I think Stuart Flinders might be moving into BBC News 24 in coming months - it's just speculation but they wouldn't request him all the way from Manchester just because someone was sick. He was probally trailing - good for him! Great presenter + bloke.

So do we know what was the cause of the disappearce of the countdown yet? Was it the tech problems that seemed to happen at the same time, or a Kaplinsky problem?

I noticed yesterday that the ticker tape kept going faulty. It just had the BBC logos flying across the bottom of the screen, with no headlines or text at all in between them.

Though David Robertson was a core, main News 24 presenter from 1997 until 2000 - where he presented News 24's Breakfast service until it was axed when Breakfast News on BBC One ended, and Breakfast was created as a service simulcast on both channels.
