Wow I think its brilliant, excellent headlines vamp, compliments the countdown properly, excellent titles (not seen Worlds yet), the astons themselves are OK, but seems to be out of the safe areas on most tellies it seems, the only disappointing for me, is there is no live headline flying around the titles, I presume the titles are not rendered on the fly?

Also another disappointing element is the astons animations, I think with the system they have they could have done a bit more with the astons animation, particularly the ticker.

But all in all, very very good!

At the end of the hour the ticker diagonally moves down off the screen.
I have to say I was suprised by the graphics, I was expecting a red ticker. I do like the astons, if not a little brash, they are still very nice and eye catching, not too sure about the Live aston though. When I first saw the Breaking News graphic I was again suprised, especially with the spinning globe part above the dog, I didn't think BBC would go with a heavy look like that, however I love all the graphics, especially the Interview background. The titles are great, I do think the nationals could have had the UK in the titles somewhere though, also I think the titles are a bit quiet at the end, there should be some red lines wizzing about or something Very Happy
Music, great! so much vibrant and funky, at first its quite quiet but eventually bangs up a few notches and becomes loud.

Great changes.

The only issue I have is with the clock position. I'm not suprised that 'safe areas' are being eliminated though. I've noted a number of programmes now no longer being 'safe' with their graphics.now.

Hi again,

The BBC editors do know about the many problems and they have posted a blog message about the changes and the inital problems

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2007/01/fine_tuning.html

And, they are going to try and fix them.

The News 24 tonight titles are fab, although they could do with the opening sting renewed

No, they're not. However, I disliked the dynamic titles - they reminded me too much of ITV News for some reason.

Well the start of the national music sounds like the start of ITV News' bulletins!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but are BBC1, News 24 and World all using exactly the same title music? I'm certain N24 and World are the same but for some reason, I keep thinking there's something slightly different about the BBC1 titles. Or, am I way off with this one?

The start of the nationals is diffrent I think, and the end of the starting titles.

I think news 24 and world are using the same titles, but the nationals seem to have a different hold on them.

I'm sure news 24 and world are using the same vamps too.

David Lowe's website implies they are all the same:
"BBC News 2007 Main Title Music
The new mix for BBC 1 News 24 and BBC World starting January 2007 "

But there is a different animation so perhaps it's just images and sound 'appear' different.

Hmmmm. I like the idea of clearing the screen, and a more classic look. However
Arrow The News 24 Tonight titles (are they long enough to be titles?) are naff. Too fast at the beginning, too slow at the end
Arrow The opening titles are fine, until the BBC News starts flying round. The BBC News looks blurred and everything after looks rushed. I also think the non-interactive titles is a step back.
Arrow I would like the live tag to go into the strap or ticker somewhere, maybe in a 3-way reveal with BBC News 24 and the time.
Arrow I hate the way the breaking news logo on the caption stops at the 4:3 zone, with blank red to the left.
Arrow The clock looks silly there - all alone left outside the 4:3 safe zone.
Arrow I would like to get rid of the ticker, and thus, the whole ticker line. News channels coped perfectly without tickers before 9/11. Integrate channel name, clock and live caption into a new 2 line caption.

All in all, a decent effort. IMHO: The music is a little better than the last version, but the original is still the best. The screen clutter is a little better. The titles are a little worse.
