Did anyone notice Adam Parsons (sports) presenting News 24 this morning between 0900 and 1300? He wasn't too bad. I assume it was his first time presenting the news rather than sports?

Forgot to mention yesterday - another mammoth stint for Tim Willcox. He did Saturday: 1300-1700 News 24, 1900-0100 BBC World, Sunday: BBC1 Lunch summary, 1300-1900 News 24. I think I'd get confused if I was doing that, especially with mixing N24 and World . He'd have gone from reporting/interviewing on Madeleine to the TUC Conference to the Sierra Leonean elections to Pakistani politics...

That's why he gets paid handsomely for being a newsreader and you get to post comments on here like the rest of us.

Was that necessary? You come across as a bit rude, to be honest.

Am I right in thinking that Sophie Long (Ex-Midlands and Spotlight) is presenting alongside Chris tonight?

So that would be Lowe and Long, then?

At just 28, would she be one of the youngest to present on News 24 (can't think of anyone younger than that)?

Yes she has turned up a fair bit over the summer months. She was on just the other day.

I'm enjoying this stint of Martine Croxall presenting in the daytime. This morning, she and Simon seem to be getting along really well and have a good onscreen relationship. Simon seems far more relaxed today than he usually is with Kate Silverton.

Here's an idea...

I think News 24 should make more use of specialist journalists. Rather than having fixed regular presenters they should have at least one of the presenters who specialises in the top story of the day.

I know the stories change quickly, but when it is apparent that the news agenda is going to be dominated by one story for a few days then they should draft in someone with that specialism.

For example if it's a major foreign affairs story, get Ben Brown or Brian Hanrahan to anchor. If it's politics, then Huw or Jon. Today it's business so get someone like Manisha Tank to co-present.

They should also do the TOTH from more appropriate places. They do this sometimes, but it should be done more. For example today they should be TOTHing from the LSE with someone in N8 with "todays other stories". If it's a big US politics story - like it was yesterday (?) with the Iraq report - then get Matt Frei or someone to TOTH from Washington.

These things would, in my opinion, make the channel more in touch and more interesting to watch.
