Lucky for the BBC to have Jane Hill in Portugal when the news broke today about Kate McCann being interviewed by the police. I wonder if the BBC had a tip off.

Most probably. Yesterday many news outlets were saying that there would be a 'significant development' in the case within the next 24 hours, possibly an arrest.

I'm probably going to come under fire here for daring to criticise a newsreader, but I have to say, what a dull pair Kate Silverton and Simon McCoy are on the morning shift. I usually watch Breakfast but a few days this week I've watched the 09.00 hour on News 24 instead. They are just so dull and boring, with no evident onscreen personality/chemistry. I really do miss Philip Hayton and Anna Jones from the morning shift. I know Phil was fairly straight-laced but he did have a personality and presence onscreen. Anna was also an excellent and versatile journalist. If they have to have McCoy/Silverton, I'd rather they were on at a different time of the day. The morning shift needs presenters with charisma who aren't going to send you off to sleep again.

Are you sure you are watching the same channel as me?
I think they are great, they are really funny to watch. One might say they should not be on a News channel doing news but I love watching them.

Maybe it's just me. I always think Simon looks a bit bored or unenthusiastic (a bit like Jeremy Paxman), and Kate always seems to be fluffing her lines, at least she does whenever I'm watching. I just don't think they're the best pair on N24, especially compared to Matthew/Jane, Jon/Louise, etc.

I have to say when Simon and Carrie are on the morning shift it's fantastic! They have a great on-screen chemistry.

Yes, I've always liked Carrie. I remember her way back in 2000/2001 when she did the 1900-2300 shift with Gavin Esler. They made an excellent pair.

I agree with mansoor. They can both be serious but can also "have a laugh" with some of the more fluffy stories.

Am I right in thinking that Sophie Long (Ex-Midlands and Spotlight) is presenting alongside Chris tonight?
