To expand on my point from last night, I'm wonder what would happen if a news channel presenter (N24 or World) was unable to go on air at the last minute due to for example (hevean forbid) being involved in an accident on the way to TC. Would it not be a good idea to have one of the news team in the background trained and ready to go on air in case of a last minute change. I really think leaving Chris Eakin anchoring until 3 in the morning is a bit too much and fair play he handles it pretty well. They should have someone else on standby, just one person mind to cover News 24 or World should there be a problem with the current presenter.

There is always someone in the News Centre other than the News Presenter who should be on air who would be capable of delivering a bulletin (Ala Nicky).

Perhaps BBC News 24 will do something special for the harry potter opening!?
Special titles or a countdown?

yes, because the media fuelled hype is not bordering on advertising the book yet is it?

i do really wonder sometimes. yes put it on newsround, an OB on local radio, brief mention on news 24 maybe - but constant live OBs on the major bulletins, prime time live ob on the one show ... if that's not overtly commercial i don't know what is. [yes i know its .. sort of ... unprecidented to have people queing on the street, but it has been undoubtedly encouraged by the media]

never mind looking suspending the ten-a-penny competitions on local radio - the bbc ought to be taking a look at bbc news!
