So is the breaking news strap double height? How does it animate? Does it alternate between BREAKING NEWS and the headline as before?

Yes but it isn't double height: but is very eyecatching

Just to clear this up now that I've seen it, the breaking news strap is double height - it comes on screen the same as the headlines strap with a sting and some swishes! It after a couple of changes from breaking news to headline and back again it changes to a breaking news slug above the DOG and details to the right. I think the strap should have been a brighter red like the old one, as it is it's the same red as everything else.

One other thing... is there anyone who gets the whole LIVE graphic on their screen. I get the bottom half only!

Its good to see that the Breaking News graphic works perfectly with the Nationals - but do they animate it off and back on so that the name astons can be clearly seen?

No it's been on constantly, and the name straps haven't been seen on News 24 at all since it appeared.

Very nice refresh, more than I was expecting. I think I got over to you what I was expecting in the other thread. Wink

I really hope they sort out the overscan issue soon. Its the only thing wrong with it. I'm glad they're not too bothered about the clock. The ticker would be smaller if they did mind.

I like the new headline bed. I also like the titles.

To finish it off, they could have had a new set, but that's a bit much too expect.

They used the new sting music on N24 with the 6 graphics. So Id expect a new close too.

In 4:30 I'm missing a few pixels of the ticker text, and almost all of the LIVE thing. In 14:9 the LIVe thing is there but I can only see the last didgit of the clock. And in 16:9 I still can't see the far left of the clock.

If you still can't see the clock on 16:9 then - despite the definite problems with safe areas on the new graphics - the geometry and overscanning on your set needs adjusting.

No it doesn't - every other channel looks fine on my set (besides, there's no setting for it).

It'll be an engineering tweak inside the set or display, but most televisions do have settings for it.

It's made me realise just how much I am missing off the bottom of my screen! I've read the book that came with the TV when I got it last year (it's a Bush iDTV) there doesn't seem to be any facility to alter the scanning etc.

Perhaps I ought to be asking this in the Lounge though.

This reminds me of the last relaunch - does anyone else remember how to begin with the globe in the TOG rotated in the wrong direction?

Didn't they do that with the BBC1 COW back in the eighties as well?

On the whole, a neat set of graphics. I love the titles. However, I do think that the clock could do with relocating to the top of the screen somewhere as I think that it looks weird where it is currently, and they could do with toning down the headline bed. I found it too loud and therefore distracting from what the newsreaders were saying.

I have a Bush TV as well Stuart and I cannot seem to be able to tweak it either. I suppose we'll have to adapt to not having the time and not being able to see the 'Live' graphics.

I like the new headline bed as it is, myself - it helps the headlines sound stronger and up-to-date, and at least we've got something other than the dull nationals bed.
