Yeah, that was me - and as he said they were behind his right shoulder, then the gallery must be behind the LEFT hand pod with his back to the cameras.

One the pic of Louise you can see the gallery behind her. The pic of Simon is a sideways view of that. So Simon does have his back to the presenters.
The easiest way to see it is look at the round red light/bit of set and you can see the full circle in the two pics.

That's right.
In the gallery photo the guy at the very end (far away from Simon) would actually be behind Louise in her photo. The wall is sort of hidden behind the white light box on the Louise pic.
