Look North Special on BBC News24 now.

Bloody hilarious it is too! Have these lot ever seen The Day Today or Alan Partridge? It really could be a spoof it's so amateurish. One of the reporters had me crying with laughter at her contrived sentences - "Cars thrown around like so much flotsum". The main presenter in the community hall is just as bad, so lovey it's untrue - "I've even had to borrow one lady my lipstick".

It would appear that since the new look there have been a few tweaks. Noticeably the white 'bar' above the screens have changed to red.

The studio is actually very small, it's just the wide shots that make it huge.

Are those bars not light boxes, that might just not have been turned on at the time the picture was taken?

You are right Steve. They can be a number of colours as well.

Its just a greyish bar with lights that shine on them. Best example of these in use was the 'Time Warp' closing to the politics show a few months ago.

Sorry to interrupt and talk about News 24...

They're all over the place this afternoon. Breaking news graphics all in the wrong places and not in the right places, and just a general sense of presenters not knowing what's going on.

Really? I must have been watching a completely different version of N24 to you then, because I haven't seen anything like that this afternoon.

I think the confusion comes because of all of the breaking news around this afternoon, first the whole Blair Brown transition, the future for the cabinet, the future for Blair, the floods, and the Heathrow Gas leak, this has meant that a couple of times this afternoon Breaking News has been replaced by more Breaking news, with Breaking News on the ticker quite alot this afternoon, its just a very busy day, i thought that they did very well this afternoon, apart from cutting from Blair leaving the commons for the last time to start the news special.

Well yes it is breaking news. Breaking news is something that is happening as its being reported. We have known it was going to happen today but its not official until it actually happens.
