BBC News 24

I'm loving the new look. Everything about it (excluding all the safe area problems) looks fantastic. The bed could easily be used as the countdown too.

I like the use of the glass world (which should have been in use before this anyway).

I have to admit that when I first saw it, I felt like suicide.

However, I am still alive and have gathered that it's not all that bad, but with a few problems:

With the titles no longer interactive, it seems a step back to me
The titles are good until the logo forms; looks messy and rather boring as there are no "BBC NEWS" strips anymore
Music is much better, besides I think the headline bed gets a tad annoying after a while
As mentioned, graphics being cut off on some TV sets
Way too SKY for me
The Nationals does seem like an afterthought, as the transition into the studio is way too quick and shabby
Nationals graphics are terrible!!!
Finally, after my long rant, they used the old sting after the headlines at 1:15! That's my biggest problem!

Quick note: Headline bed on nationals doesn't bother me that much

I've not seen a telly yet and that you tube thigs been on my screen for 15 mins now!

I really like the coming up thing and the titles are GREAT!

To be honest, I always thought the on-the-fly rendered titles were too gimmicky, and despite the theoretical fabness of having the globe start from the right place etc., it always looked a bit naff really.

There is a bbc thing - but it goes really fast (i really like it)

Wow, even by the standards of TV Forum, that is taking low-viewing news channel presentation very seriously!

I think the new look on both BBC News 24 and BBC World is a vast improvement.

Graphics are a more suitable size, meaning they don't block out half of the screen. I also like the glassy feel they have to them (particularly the headline aston wipe - is N24 using this, as I've noticed it on World so far).

The music is much improved. I always felt that the 2003 music was rather weak. It didn't have much oomph to it (except the old World head vamps) and I'm glad to hear that this has been rectified. The TOTH vamp seems to be based on the countdown quite heavily, giving it that punchier sound.

All in all, a good effort by the team.

Yes, the 03-07 theme didn't have the fast-paced feel of the 99-03 theme - perhaps because it didn't use the "thunderclaps" in the theme. The previous titles also looked very slow.

Now they look... ooh... beautiful......... and that music! Shame we don't have a new countdown on N24.

Strange thing about the countdown is that on David Lowe's site you can listen to what he labels BBC World Countdown 2007, but I don't think BBC World is using it yet. Maybe there will be an updated countdown soon. It would be good if it was refreshed a la World Cup so that more recent footage could be added more frequently. After all, the countdown is such a well loved N24/World element, they should make the most of it!
