They probably want to showcase a range of people who will be seen on BBC News 24, and clearly with the simulcast both Huw and Natasha can be seen frequently on BBC News 24. It also breaks the barriers down slightly between News and the network bulletins.

Yeah that worked, ta.

Don't like it - the previous clock was better, and the DOG doesn't look right. End bit looks good though.

Eww whats with the shoddy white text.

The countdown clock looks too near to the bottom of the screen when watching in full 16:9 to me. But then that is something of a theme of the current News 24 graphics.

What was wrong with the old one?

The DOG looks completely out of place!

Any idea if the DOG is burned into the new countdown, or they're just deciding to keep it on through it?

I like it and love how it says News 24 at the end.
The dog looks quite good there BUT...
...the best bit are the new shots like Huw in Iraq and Natasha at the London Eye all looks great! Very Happy

When the full screen logo appears it seems to wipe down over the dog so it is likely burnt on unless the graphics man was very good - unlike the sound man who left the sound up when tractor cam trundled along.
