I also noticed the ticker kept going on and off at the start of the hour. It appeared as white text with a white background.
Indeed it did - as posted on the previous page. Shame - I was going to cap but the PC was being a pain in the rear so I didn't/couldn't get it.

Sky News was named Best News Channel at last night’s Broadcast Digital Awards, beating off several international broadcasters including Al Jazeera English.
The judges commended Sky News saying: “Sky is generally about two minutes ahead of BBC News 24. It is an excellent channel – first to the spot every time a story breaks.” Clearly impressed, the judges added: “It engages a wider audience than the BBC.”
Head of Sky News John Ryley, who picked up the award at the ceremony in London, said it was “a tribute to our hard work, energy and imagination".

Simple! More people watch BBC News 24, that's more important than any award.

Sorry but does that mean that BBC News 24 is the one who has a higher viewership instead of Sky News yet the judges said Sky engages a wider audience?

I hated Sky News - it was tabloid, sensationalist and the new graphics were like something Fox News would spew up!
Mercifully it's been removed from Virgin Media.
I note how they only include the most flattering excerpts.
Showoff!

The key words there are "engages" and "wider" - both of which are fairly vague. They could mean that Sky gets more emails from people from a wider geographical area!
Fact is News 24 has more viewers than Sky.

I think the meaning of said statement is pretty clear. It is widely known that sky news' viewer base covers a wider demographic than that of the BBC; and don't try and deny it
And, just because 'the masses' believe something is great, doesn't mean it actually is. May I point you towards Fox News, Americas most watched news channel, and we all know what we think of them
.
Graphics hardly resemble that of Fox News, sky hve been using a tower since 1995 - so don't try that one, 'cos it ain't washing.
I hate news 24s graphics, if anything I find them too 'flashy', all those white bits eeeeewww.
EDIT: I'm not bitter about the number of viewers. The way i look at it is that BBC News 24 have it all too prove now, and it doesn't look like they are impressing many people in the industry itself.

regarding the ticker and DOG, I noticed on the Interactive feed, the usual name captions and straps come up, but no ticker and it says BBC NEWS, does that mean the Ticker and DOG is now overlayed on top of the default feed and can the BBC World gallery receive all the name astons driven by Virtz but without BBC News 24 ticker and DOG at the bottom?
