Glad they're not afraid to pee off the minority of viewers stuck in 4:3 mode who are missing the clock. £5 says the majority of those emailing in actually have widescreen televisions Rolling Eyes

Anyone stupid enough not to letterbox deserves no clock!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets niggled by such things! Smile

The number of times that I'll visit a friends house, and notice that they're watching a stretched 4:3 digital picture on a widescreen TV set... Rolling Eyes

I always end up saying "Your aspect ratio needs sorting, pass me your remote". And when I'm done, I have to explain to justify what difference it's made (e.g. by drawing their attention to the fact that, say, the ITV1 logo in the bottom left corner of a trailer isn't in the literal corner, but slightly "too far right", in the "safe area").

It's like I'm The Widescreen Police or something. It's a wonder I've got any friends left...

I agree - its good that they're loosening up on being so strictly 4:3 safe. Is it 14:9 safe for the overnight simulcasts on BBC1 do you think? The clock isn't vital so it makes sense to fill up that space rather than leave it blank.

No - if I move my Freeview box to 14:9, it's half-on-half-off.

And, worse, on my widescreen telly, the clock, BBC News 24 logo and ticker are half cut-off on the bottom...

And DAMN, they've got a repeating bleep over the headlines like Breakfast

It's funny when they say "Why is it all squashed in?" and tell you to "fix it".

Few cock ups, at TOTH, Caroline Hawly's mic wasnt faded up, so we just heard the bed play for a bit. Emily was by the ever faded screens, she started to talk about the next story in the headlines, when the VT of the first just started playing. And just now breaking news sting started, stoped and started a few seconds later. Hehe.

New graphics always go wrong in the first week...

This is great. Breaking News, two men nicking pampers from a beach.

This has turned into an entertainment show, how many pampers packs can you get on one piece of wood...

It was rather funny with Jon Sopel (front man of The Politics Show ... you know that show for sensible middle aged men) talking about nappies being stolen from a beach.

He seems to know a lot about "nappy dealing"...

I don't have any problems with the new look except the picture size has changed. I could see everything yesterday but due to the change a bit off the top and the bottom are missing and the only way of changing it for me is to adjust the picture settings on the Sky box.

Sorry to say it, but those titles look less like the work of creativity one would expect, and more like the output of one of the many 3D video-editing packages out there. By contrast, the 2003-2007 titles had lots of intricate details which you had to watch in slow motion to see - this is just all very basic. Try watching the TOTH without the music and you'll see exactly what I mean.

You call that basic? I'd like to see you make that in Ulead Cool 3D

I'd also call it basic, granted I couldn't do it in Ulead Cool 3D but I could do it with Illustrator and Carrara...

Ive noticed on the loop animation on news 24, theres a triangular shape that flies accross the screen, its quite amusing as it resembles a paper areoplane. Haha.

Im loving the stab on N24.
