News24 and BBC1 simulcast the midday news. If you watched it on N24 it was very clumsy, from the 55 second countdown which faded out with 3 seconds left, and then Tim ALWAYS HERE Wilcox stumbled a bit when saying Au Revoir to BBC1 viewers, looks down at script, shuffles script, then reminds ME I am STILL watching BBC News 24, "and back to out top story..........." Yeah the one you talked about 4 minutes ago!!

LOL - I saw that too. It was only when I noticed the clock was missing and he said "goodbye" to BBC One I realised it was a simulcast.
I imagine these aren't that easy to do. It probably looked OK on BBC One, it was only us watching on N24 who realised the sequence of errors.
EDIT:
Poor Tim "Omnipresent" Wilcox , he's had two breaking news stories in the last 30 mins. Who thinks Saturday afternoon is a quiet shift - manages quite well.

Why do they fade the countdown out for the weekend simulcasts? They don't do it for the 1/6/10 in the week.
They really do need to look at these clumsy ends to simulcasts though. There are rumours that the 1/6/10 will be virtually scrapped i.e. they won't be separate programmes made by BBC News with their own editorial teams, instead just produced by News 24 and shown on both channels. If this is the case perhaps it will be improved.
Until that happens, surely it'd make sense to sort out the schedules so it works better - perhaps the BBC One bulletin should be at half past then News 24 could go into something like Your News or StoryFIX?

Well BBC One should start using the News 24 countdown before all news programmes, then BBC One could switch to News 24 feed during the countdown at weekends, and News 24 could switch to the BBC One feed during their countdown on weekdays.

I guess that when they sitch to the One, Six or Ten News 24 is switching to the BBC one feed.
On the weekend BBC One switches to the News 24 feed.
No idea if thats right but make sence to me.

For the n-millionth time, the midday bulletin on a Saturday is always a simulcast, every week the same. Saves bringing in an extra crew to staff N6.
It is always handled by N24 from N8, and is usually presented by Nick, Maxine or Tim. The countdown is faded out at the end to ensure that BBC 1 gets a clean opt-in at the TOTH for the opening sting - no messy openings.
The ending is always slightly awkward, given the closing sting isn't broadcast on N24, and the presenter remains in vision. This means that whoever is presenting is obliged to shuffle and organise for a few seconds to allow BBC 1 to get a clean opt-out. This is guaranteed to look awkward on N24, before the news is continued.
The suggestion that BBC1 should use a countdown is a worthless idea, as a national channel broadcasting a diverse range of programming, a countdown is a waste of valuable air time, which is best filled with programmes or trailers.
