I presume it's the Alan Johnstone story? I've seen them do this before for major breaking news. Should do it more in my opinion and change the colour.

Kate Sanderson, Matthew Price, Krishnan Guru-Murphy (sp?), Julie Etchingham, Chris Rogers, Becky Jago, Juliet Morris all moved onto Main News programs or Channels after Newsround! One could argue Elle is just following in their foot steps and naturally progressing in her career.

Ellie is a BBC News presenter - it is my understanding that she could technically be called into any department as a member of the news team.
As Ben and Emily demonstrated tonight different presenters can appear on different outputs - whether they be tv, radio or online.
It's also not without precedent. Many Newsround presenters and reporters have gone on from the programme to different areas - I can certainly remember Matthew Price leaving Newsround. He's now the Beeb's Middle East Correspondent.

Matthew Price also did a great job as 'World Cup Correspondant', it would be good to bring him back over again for Euro 2008, he clearly enjoyed himself.
Ellie certainly can be called upon to present anything, and it is clearly a move she wants to make as opposed being forced to do it - why agree to present the first shift of the day on N24, and still present Newsround in the evening? Similar comments apply to Tim, and his double shifts / long stints without days off / multiple shifts and bulletins in a day - he wouldn't agree to do it if he didn't enjoy it and want to do it, after all, no other relief presenter comes close to the sheer time he is at TVC
